- If a username was already taken, Classcraft did not report an error message (but no account was created)
- Many students wanted to be Mages. Based on what I learned in the webinar, you should try to encourage kids to take some of each role so the teams are balanced.I had to sell the role of the healer a little more.
- Some students wanted avatars that do not serve as a physical representation of themselves. I think providing a safe space where students can pick avatars that are different from themselves is very important. As the sponsor of the Gay Straight Alliance at my school, I was sure to provide a very supportive and welcoming environment that let students know that it was safe to pick avatars of another gender and they would not be bullied in my classroom. I did this by talking about how common it is for gamers to select avatars that are another gender (which many students already knew). I plan on talking about this a lot more on a future episode of my podcast.
